Minsa Kogei Kan (Minsa Crafts Museum)

Yaeyama Minsa is a fabric made on the Yaeyama Islands. It features alternating five-and-four square 'kasuri' patterns in the fabric and that patterns means "a long and happy life". Also it's said that the pattern like centipede's foot on the sides means "please come frequently". Originally, woman in Yaeyama gave it to suitor as an answer in old commuting relationships era. Minsa Kogei Kan(Minsa crafts museum) in Ishigaki island displays and sells this fabulous traditional Minsa weaving. Please come and see for yourself.
