Per viewer's request, I am adding a TON more types of events and info to March's calendar. This blog is meant to serve your needs as best I can.
I am currently finished putting ALL of the events from Venture magazine on the calendar (instead of selected family programs) with the exception of daily meal specials at the restaurants.
I would like to remind everyone that this is a public calendar. This means you can create and post events on the calendar as well. So please, if I have missed any awesome programs or events please post them for others to attend. PLEASE KEEP THESE COMMUNITY/FAMILY FRIENDLY.
Thank you everyone!

STUDIO GHIBLI Layout Exhibition.
スタジオジブリ・レイアウト展
The art of animation is a modern day key to creating entertaining documentaries and motion pictures, and the secrets behind great productions are being unveiled beginning tomorrow at the STUDIO GHIBLI Layout Exhibition. The exhibition, which runs through Monday, May 6th, is being administered by
Studio Ghibli, Inc. a Japanese animation film studio based in Koganei, Tokyo. The exhibition takes place at the Art Museum Gallery of the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum.
The studio is best known for its anime feature films. Studio Ghibli began in June 1985 after the success of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind with funding by Tokuma Shoten. The company's logo features the character Totoro (a large forest spirit) from Miyazaki's film My Neighbor Totoro. At one time the studio was based in Kichijōji, Musashino, Tokyo.
Studio Ghibli has produced seventeen feature films, beginning with Castle in the Sky in 1986. It was followed by Grave of the Fireflies(1988), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989), Only Yesterday (1991), Porco Rosso (1992), Pom Poko (1994), Whisper of the Heart (1995), Princess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999), Spirited Away (2001), The Cat Returns (2002), Howl's Moving Castle (2004), Tales from Earthsea (2006), Ponyo (2008), Arrietty (2010), and From Up on Poppy Hill (2011). Sixteen of the films received both critical and financial success, with the notable exception being Tales from Earthsea, which, in spite of its commercial success, achieved less critical praise than Ghibli's other productions.
The studio has also produced several short films and television commercials, as well as Ocean Waves, a television film. Eight of Studio Ghibli's films are among the 15 highest-grossing anime films, withSpirited Away being the highest, grossing over $274 million worldwide. Many anime features created by Studio Ghibli have won the Animage Anime Grand Prix award and three have won the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year. In 2002, Spirited Away won a Golden Bear and an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
Admission to the exhibition, which is open daily 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, is ¥960 (general public) , ¥640 (college & high school students), ¥480 (junior high & elementary students) in advance.. Tickets at the door cost ¥1,200 (general public), ¥800 (college & high school students), and ¥600 (junior high & elementary students)
Information on the exhibition is available from the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum, 098-941-8200.
Focusing on the layout is the basis of full cooperation of Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo. Director Hayao Miyazaki autograph, Director Hayao Miyazaki, and Isao Takahata, approach the secret of creation of Studio Ghibli, reading and dispelling the layouts. Their work has stretched to the time before Ghibli discovered the charm of public presentation and animation, which caught the public eye following being blocked in the layout of about 1,300 points from “Castle In The Sky” to “From Up On Poppy Hill”.
On Saturday, March 2nd, and again on the 16th, from 10:00 a.m. ~ 6:30 p.m., the editor’s documentary film of “Princess Mononoke” will be screened at a lecture hall at Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum. Admission is free.

Plan My Deployment Application
Plan
My Deployment: Gearing up for a deployment can be a stressful and
confusing time for service members and their families. There is often an
overwhelming to-do list, and it can be difficult to keep everything
straight. Military OneSource's new online application, Plan My
Deployment, aims to take much of the guess work out of preparing for an
upcoming deployment by offering helpful articles, planning tools,
checklists and tips for service members and families.
https:// apps.militaryonesource.mil/MOS/ f?p=PMD%3AENTRY%3A0
For customizable help, you begin by entering duty status, branch,
familial status and expected deployment and return dates. The results
will help you prepare for deployment in a timely manner and be sure that
no stone is left unturned for your family's needs or your own needs.
Plan My Deployment isn't just packing lists and tips leading up to
deployment, the program is designed to help you and your family through
each of the four phases of deployment - Pre-deployment and Mobilization,
Deployment and Mobilization, Reunion and Reintegration, and
Reintegration. Each phase of deployment presents new challenges and
questions, so Military OneSource has developed Plan My Deployment to
help you each step of the way.
